Accreditation of Supporting People providers

RTL developed and successfully introduced a process whereby Authorising Authorities could fulfil their obligation to accredit providers of supported living services with a minimum of effort. Originally trialled through a consortium of West London Boroughs, the process was subsequently taken on by additional consortia in North and East London.

The process itself received favourable attention from the Audit Commission who was impressed with the use of passporting arrangements to cut down on the amount of work needed by both individual providers and authorities.

Following the work across London, RTL was also approached by a number of Authorities outside London to carry out similar work for them. In total, the accreditation work involved over 500 providers across 20 authorities.
