Suitable for: This course is aimed at clients who perform tasks that may expose them to the risk of angry, threatening or aggressive behaviour in their work place.
Course Aims and Objectives
This course has been designed to help clients develop skills and gain confidence in dealing with angry or aggressive individuals, and to reduce the risk of clients becoming a victim of violence. To enable individuals involved to recognise different aspects of conflict that they may encounter; to be able to understand and be aware of the different methods of resolving such conflicts. The workshop will consist of techniques on managing and de-escalating potentially violent incidents within the work environment. This course aims to provide individuals with the essential knowledge to:
- Identify the tasks that expose clients to risk
- Understand the triggers and factors that affect peoples behaviour
- Understand the autonomic responses to feeling threaten or intimidated
- Develop a strategy for de-escalation
- Prevent incidents from occurring and/or escalating
- Identify ways to reduce the risks
- Recognise and assess the types of challenging situations which they may encounter
- Promote positive communication and de-escalation techniques
- Control their own feelings, responses and increase confidence
- Develop a strategy for managing work related violence
