Suitable for: The course is designed for staff working with older people and is suitable for people working in residential or nursing home settings, or in the community.
Course Aims and Objectives
This course provides a general introduction to drugs. It explains why older people can make mistakes when self medicating. At the end of the course participants will have a greater understanding of the following:
- General introduction to medication and older people
- Reasons why older people can make mistakes when self medicating
- Some of the common groups of drugs taken by older people, precautions and side effects
