Understanding Eating Disorders

Suitable for: This course is aimed at any staff that want to learn more about eating disorders and their affects. The course will focus on all types of eating disorders, from compulsive overeating to anorexia.
Course Aims and Objectives
By the end of the course, participants should:
- Understand the definition of an eating disorder, and the affects on the body and mind
- Be able to recognise the signs and symptoms of someone who is suffering from an eating disorder
- Have learnt about the common types of eating disorders and complications that may arise
- Be aware of the ways that the media and the internet perceive eating disorders and whether the views expressed are helpful or detrimental
- Have explored the types of support available to sufferers
