Motivational Interviewing

Suitable for: Staff working with any client group, where they have 1-1 conversations with clients, in which they aim to help the client move forward with their issues or concerns.
Course Aims and Objectives
By the end of this course, participants will:
- Understand what is meant by motivational interviewing
- Have an awareness of when motivational interviewing may be useful in client work
- Understand how motivational interviewing may influence behaviour change
- Be able to explain the techniques used
- Be able to demonstrate the use of active listening skills.
Trainers for this course
Nigel Keir
Is the Training and Development Manager at ROCC. He has held training positions in the Civil Service and for the National Association of CAB. He has also managed mental community support services. Nigel holds a diploma in training management and is currently studying for an MSc in the Management of Voluntary Organisations.
