Working with Sex Offenders

Suitable for: Those who provide services which might be used by those with a history of sex offending. This is intended as a basic introductiory course, to allay some of the concerns and fears for staff, service providers and managers.
Course Aims and Objectives
By the end of the course participants will have:
- Examined some of the myths and realities of those convicted of a sexual offence
- Had an introduction to some aspects of treatment work with sex offenders
- Explored the tension between support and public protection issues when providing services for sex offenders

Phil Collins
Phil has worked in many positions in the local Supported Housing sector. He was involved in the setup and running of an innovative sex offender support programme in Hampshire.
Bernard Wiseman
Bernard works for the National Probation Service and is currently a Senior Probation Officer at Albany Prison, which runs a sex offender treatment programme.
