Course Aims and Objectives
The course examines the nature and incidence of depression in older people, plus factors that can place the older person at risk of becoming depressed. The course will also explore appropriate approaches and strategies for intervention. By the end of the course participants will be able to:
- List some of the different kinds of depression that may affect older people
- Describe some of the causes for depression
- Identify signs and symptoms of depressive illness in older people
- Discuss and evaluate current forms of treatment for depression
