Suitable for: This course is suitable for anyone, including administrative and support staff. It is a basic level course for those wanting to improve their written and verbal communication skills.
Course Aims and Objectives
By the end of the session, participants will have:
- Developed a greater understanding of what is important about verbal communication, including body language
- An increased awareness of the barriers to effective communication
- Practised active listening skills
- Understood the importance of correct application of emails, minutes, letters and reports
- Been introduced to some standard formats for minute taking, email use, writing business letters, and authoring business reports
- Discussed policies and legal issues around formal written communications
- Practiced usage of various written communication methods
Trainers for this course
Nigel Keir
Is the Training and Development Manager at ROCC. He has held training positions in the Civil Service and for the National Association of CAB. He has also managed mental community support services. Nigel holds a diploma in training management and is currently studying for an MSc in the Management of Voluntary Organisations.
