Course Aims and Objectives
The course aims to provide comprehensive information on the problem of alcohol abuse in older people. This includes factors which may contribute to alcohol abuse, ways of identifying the problem, and possible avenues of help for those who require it. To enable participants to:
- Explain the meaning of alcohol abuse
- Describe some of the factors which may lead to an older person to abuse alcohol
- Describe the physical, psychological and social effects of alcohol abuse on older people
- List some ways of managing the problem
