Suitable for: All support workers - whether or not you work in mental health services, as Mental Health issues affect 1 in 4 of us.
Course Aims and Objectives
By the end of this course, participants will be able to:
- To help you to recognise the signs and symptoms of the major mental health problems.
- To present the main mental illness models
- To increase your knowledge of treatments and services available
- Provide an overview of The Mental Health Act
- Good practice in service user involvement
- Communicating with people with Mental Health problems.
- The ‘Care Programme Approach’
- Enable you to support sufferers more effectively.
Trainers for this course
Nigel Keir
Is the Training and Development Manager at ROCC. He has held training positions in the Civil Service and for the National Association of CAB. He has also managed mental community support services. Nigel holds a diploma in training management and is currently studying for an MSc in the Management of Voluntary Organisations.
