Course Aims and Objectives
This workshop will look at the following:
- Filling in Myths and Truths Questionnaire – This is to discover what the delegates actually know about the subject of Disability.
- The Social Model of Disability – What is it all About? This is a group work session to find out what delegates know about the Social Model of Disability and to inform them of the importance of the model.
- What are the Barriers for Disabled People? This exercise is in groups to make the delegates consider their local community and the barriers in terms of financial, attitudinal and physical towards disabled people.
- Car Labels Game – Know your Customer. This is a practical exercise to get delegates to think about their organisations in terms of clients from the CEO to disabled customers. It makes them think about messages and communication and where everyone fits in terms of customer service.
- Personalisation: The Revolution – Will it make a Difference? Taking the delegates through the principles of Personalisation and what it means in terms of delivery of social care, disabled people becoming employers, the birth of PAs instead of carers.
- What Difference to Services will Personalisation make? This will get people thinking about the disabled person as an employer, making service more personal.
- Communication Game – This will give a practical insight into the difficulty of speech impairments.
- Person-Centred Plans/Support Plans in Practice – This will take delegates through the principles of person-centred plans and why they are important.
